It’s got a huge following too. Like Jesus who knew recolors are so popular instead of yanno, making your own artwork to edit and animate instead of recoloring movie stills and other fanart.
The story isn’t even that good, it’s all Mary Sue edgelord stuff that would make Queen Bleh blush so I don’t why this has such a following.
Why do you think Bleh was created if not for a kernel of truth behind it? Yeah the recolor culture is really out of control on youtube. And if you tell them “Hey, it’s not cool. That’s my friend’s art. Please stop.” in the nicest way they’re gonna throw a fantrum, call you a pedophile, then rally their friends to try and run you out of town. They’re all like that.

It would not surprise me as many OCs are terrible and created on the fly to fit in with the fandom then get treated like they put years of work into them. At least the ones that aren’t acid laced kool-aid vomit here are pretty despite their edginess.
I don’t mind bases bc at least you can edit the line art to make your lion not look like the lion from the movie it’s probably inked from. Recoloring and then saying it’s your original character I’ve never understood bc this is supposed to be a Kiara/Kovu offspring but all I see is Vitani with the default blue color on Microsoft paint for eyes. I’m not trying to offend the editor but bra who made this, if you see this, you can do so much better and learn art!

Found this in the TLG tag on dA and I already knew that it was art theft AND recolored. I don’t know who the original artist is though.
And they recolored it twice. I thought it was Eyes, but she says it’s not and that it does look familiar to her. She’s trying to track down the original. Judging by the pixelated edges, it looks like they cut it out of the original image. It looks like a cub mufasa to me that got recolored horribly.
Update: Source found. Original artist is Howikin.
Alright. This time with the username hidden. I still think peple should know who this is but its your call i guess. This person has been selling frankentraces for real money. I’m not on DA but they seem fairly popular and they’ve been a member for 8 years. Idk if they have always traced and gotten away with it, but otherwise idk why they would do this
I do not approve of this. Some of these look spot on traced, others heavily reffed. It’s a shame too because I looked at the person’s art and suffice to say I can’t trust their talent if they’re tracing for money.
