I found this on Deviantart, why does this Simba lookalike look like he was eating ink? that black stuff over his mouth? looks so weird to me, why do people make the underbelly colors ‘darker’ than the base color?
It can be pretty if done correctly, for instance using a saturated brown color that’s darker than the main pelt as opposed to a solid black color. This fellow would be prettier if that black was a dark greyish brown maybe. Just not solid black like this. It’s a color theory rule that animators use in the animation industry. Solid black does not work on the screen. That’s why honey badgers in TLG are saturated medium warm colors instead of solid black. Hecc, even Flower(Bambi) is a saturated dark grey color, and not solid black. The closest to solid black we got from TLG were the crows and they weren’ t solid black. They were a dark grey.
