Fuck yea terrible Lion King fandom

@the Kimba site He had images from most of the versions of JEL, and of course the infamous Lion King comparison images are often reposted on sites without saying where they came from. No you can't own screenshots, but... eh. Anyway, I belong to a yahoo Kimba group he started. Yes, I've yet to meet a Kimba fan that doesn't believe TLK is a rip-off or at least inspired, but I've also not had one of this group go crazy on me either. People need to quit using is site as an excuse to be a jerk.

Yes! Agreed most assuredly. And it’s good to know that you’ve not had one fantard experience in the group. That’s good news.

kimbawlion,com/kimbawlion/ I feel like I should point out that the first comparison site I know of wasn't a comparison SITE. It was just one page (the Lion King? one). Honestly, if people bother to look at more than the one page (most don't) it's kinda obvious Kimba's just visually similar in minor ways. Also, the guy that made this site died a few years ago. People just take his images (he had issues with them being stolen a lot I think) and ignore what he actually said half the time.

That’s the site I was talking about ironically.

I actually didn’t know that he died, leaving behind a legacy of butthurt.

But what do you mean by images? Fan art or edited screenshots?

youtube,com/watch?v=5xFTdustXME I'm hoping your base (or you) know who these belong to. I only recognize TC-96 for sure, and maybe Savu's stuff.

Looks like they used HydraCarina’s, MalisTLk’s, Laniei’s, WhiteKimiya’s, OmegaLioness’, Eyesinthedark666′s, Dyb, Ileana-TLK and many others works and some I don’t recognize but looks to be many were fan art for Savu.

I offer this to the Kopa thing: akril15,deviantart,com/art/It-Could-Always-be-Worse-357212574 To others: Disney either doesn't know he even exists, or they don't care, folks. He's been completely over wrote. If they were ever going to use him, it would've been when they considered having Kiara's brother in the first sequel. Note that "Kopa" has never been a concept name in any behind the scenes stuff, "Chaka" was. They don't want him and they never will. Just like Scar will NEVER be Nala's dad.

Exactly^ Plus Kiara’s brother was then named Chaka. They just took the concept and carried it over to The Lion Guard. Kion is official. Kopa never existed. I believe that Disney is aware of Kopa’s existence, they had to have  read through it once before giving them the go ahead to publish the chapter books. Disney’s probably tired of the crazy Kopa fans as it is. Disney is aware of how awful this particular fandom is. Heck, they’re aware of the fandoms from all their movies.

Agreed. Though there's several stories about how Kimba became Kimba. As I heard it, Tezuka wanted him to stay Leo, and the dub co said too boring and wanted Simba... until they found out Simba was a liquor brand. Everyone ignores that Tezuka and Disney were friends, bounced ideas off each other, and honestly (if there is an afterlife) are most likely shaking their heads or laughing at all the idiots. At least it's free publicity.

That’s what I was told. Ironically, Kimba means feces in Swahili HAHA

It's the fact several sites have side-by-side comparisons that keeps the Lying King stuff alive. I posted my theories about the so-called theft. One is that the VISUALS are the only similarity. That could've been caused by the TLK staff being the right age to have seen Kimba; stuff sticks in your head long after you forget the source. And both Kimba and TLK were based on Bambi. I swear in 94 there was behind the scenes that said some animation was done in Japan, but it was only on TV a few times

I’m told by Anyahs of dA that it’s also to do with the english dubbing. When they wanted to give Kimba a different name, they wanted to name him Simba, but Disney had come out with The Lion King and so they just changed S to K.

But yes, without Bambi, we wouldn’t even HAVE manga. Bambi inspired Tezuka greatly to the point that he came up with Kimba or rather his real name, Leo. Tezuka, with Disney’s blessing, even transcribed Bambi into Manga form.

Speaking of Tezuka. People over look this quite a lot. But Kimba/Leo is constantly depicted in Mickey Mouse coveralls. He also resembles Mickey Mouse with those huge ears.

TLG actually came close to proving my original theory true as to why Scar wanted to rule the Pride Lands. Basically, he was doing Mufasa's job in his head, but Mufasa could still make laws that didn't make sense or didn't take his advice into account. So Scar said screw this, I'm better and took over. I've always thought that there's something behind the "Don't turn your back on me"/"Brains/brute strength" lines. Like Mufasa DID turn his back on Scar once, at least as far as Scar was concerned.

Possibly. Though I keep going back to Scar and his pathological lying. He seems like he’s so good at lying he can fool himself into believing his own lies. That’s why I wonder if it wasn’t Scar that turned his back on Mufasa in that line and lied that it was Mufasa to make himself feel better about what ever it was that happened(Possibly trying to use the roar on him).

I used to just use the Ahadi/Uru/Taka/Mohatu names for shorthand as most of the fandom knew who those names meant. Originally I had my own names for their parents/grandparents, and never bothered to give Scar a birth name. I wish people would realize that ANYTHING released after the first film is just official fanfiction. Be nice to see people use the original movie and nothing else for a change (what I'm going to try and do). I mean, build off what's seen there, use your own imagination. :)

You make a good point. Because 6NA literally is published fanfiction. Speaking of fanfiction, the name Tanabi comes from the first TLK fanfiction named Chronicles of the Pridelands. People seem to not know this and naturally assume that it’s canon. But I haven’t seen Tanabi being used as obsessively as Kopa is.

I'm gonna get tossed on my ear for this, but actually... when I first heard of Mheetu my brain went right to the Jetlag Productions "Leo the Lion" movie that came out on video in 94. (No relation at all to the Kimba franchise). The "hero" of the film is Leo, but the main character is a lion cub that ends up called "Twoy" (2 E). So whenever I consider his design, Mheetu looks a lot like Twoy. Current Headcanon for Nala's Father is THAT Leo... I write a lot of crossovers in my head.

Doesn’t Leo the Lion take place in India? Or am I thinking of Simba the King Lion? Probably thinking of the latter here.

I don’t mind crossovers if they’re done tastefully. For example, even if humans don’t take place in TLK, I love Tarzan crossovers with Simba. Because in reality the original book/old films and comics of Tarzan featured a lion named Simba who actually was king of his domain. He had four cubs with one female lioness.

So the idea of Tarzan crossing over with TLK isn’t too farfetched of an idea and it’s a fun concept.
