Can we as a fandom get over this obsession with lore and what's "canon"? I've seen so many stories be the same tired cliches because the canon police have to slap everyone with "well actually, their parents were Ahadi and Uru", "well, actually, his birth name is Askari, the director said so", etc. How about we just realize how limiting the creators answering all the questions is?
Haven't seen the new TLK yet, but it's already worlds better to me. The Kimba stuff is just beating a dead horse for views. (Or people taking advantage of the new movie to get Kimba out there again. I've always believed Disney saying "never heard of it" was a publicity stunt FOR Kimba and TLK both,)
Since "Kimba" means both "poop" and "corpse", I legit made it my headcanon his dad named him that to remind him a King isn't a big deal, everything dies, so be humble.
I knew about the feces part but not the corpse. But that is an interesting headcanon.
I assume the trailers show redone scenes from the original to reassure the fan base. Disney would have to live under a rock not to know how rabid TLK fans can get. We've breathed life into this for so many years. They're counting on that to make money here. I suspect the trailer is made up "Easter Eggs". I can't believe they'd shot-for-shot reanimate it, knowing the original base will be mentally comparing the two and how annoying that'd be.
Looking at how they did The Jungle Book as the initial test run for this, and how they did the storytelling of Beauty and the Beast retaining the original elements of the beloved classic while adding some darker themes to it, something tells me it’s gonna be good.
Frankly, I’m looking forward to this film. And all these whiny piss babies aren’t gonna ruin my excitement.
It's so wonderful to know there are artists out there than when 'inspired' by others, they draw their own art instead of tracing, and put just enough twist on it that they would avoid infringement. Isn't it?
Let's go back to talking TLK: So the remake's trailer looks pretty dang good. It does give a sort of "off" feeling for some people, especially if they watched a lot of documentaries. I'll admit calling it "Live Action" is a stretch. But hey, if Disney does animation this way at least it's still animation. :)
With Disney’s Live Action kick, I could go either way as it depends on the writing(My absolute favorites thus far are Cinderella and Maleficent).
The one thing I put my foot down upon is them fucking with Fantasia. The entire premise of Fantasia was to illustrate a story using only music. It doesn’t need to be remastered into a live action!
So I don't know who all is on Wattpad in the TLK community. But some of the covers I'm 50%+ sure are borrowed fan art. add this /stories/lion/hot to the end of wattpad's URL and see for yourself. (Especially you KionXAnyone artists.) I KNOW I saw TC's family pic among them.
That’s why I dub Wattpad the biggest cesspool of art theft(and from the sound of it, identity theft) right next to Fanpop.
I'm tempted to send in scans of one of the TLK books I grew up on. The poses used to get reused a lot/illustrations redone from book to book. So people could reference... and so tracers could be caught if they used something that's not widely online. But I'm not sure if that'd just be a pain for you.
Hmm, not sure. I’d personally like to see these scans of yours though.
I know Wolfsea can do lions (she did an awesome piece for me as a contest prize), and Nala15's got 3 slots left on her commission sale before she raises her prices last I checked. Also MaxPaineVolumn, AlleyHound was, lolpeaceout... Hope that helps.
