Nilin is a coward. They're just upset that they got caught with their hand in the cookie jar and think that running away is easier than apologizing and facing their mistakes. Running away doesn't solve problems, it only prolongs them.

Exactly. You’re better off apologizing to everyone you traced and learn to draw on your own.
It’s okay to trace to learn to draw. But one must never claim the results as your own.
When I’m trying to learn to draw something, I trace it. I build up a skeletal structure of shapes and gestures and eventually trace the line art to figure out how to draw the thing. But I never claim the results as mine. I keep them for personal references.
But what Nilin was doing is indeed cowardly. Giving credit doesn’t mean you can get away with it. And referencing doesn’t mean to trace.
I’ve tried explaining that to her. But it goes over her head. I figure her frontal lobe isn’t fully developed yet. IE She’s too young to understand.
Isn't Horsenilin's "Sibling Hug" work awfully close to TC-96's work?

Anonymous
I thought so too. But they’re referenced off famous cute photos. As long as it’s not a direct trace line for line of the original there’s nothing you can do.
Referencing without crediting or asking permission is NOT ok!

Anonymous
Exactly. And no one seems to grasp this concept!
completely unrelated, but every time you type "ECH" i automatically read it as "YCH" so if you'll excuse me i'm going to go outside and away from deviantart

Doesn’t hurt to take a break now and then c:
Horsenilin also traces over screenshots. It's almost like making and using their own bases. "But they credit Disney, so it's probably fine" :/ And you even have ass patters who say "oh this is the best!!1!!"

Anonymous
Makes me vomit in the back of my mouth. And to see ass patters saying that about her traced fan art recolors. Then they use the “References were used so it’s okay!” card. ECH
Do you think it's okay to redraw (not trace, but heavily reference) someone's art just for practice, without posting your drawing online?

Anonymous
If it’s for study, ask first. Then yes you can keep it to yourself for reference later. As long as you get the artist’s permission first and foremost and don’t pass it off as yours donut steel you’re absolutely fine in doing this c:
Me: "(GASP) is the eye going inside the ear on that base???", about the designs themselves, could consider using a solid color/even less markings. That way you can really push and focus into face/body/other characteristics like scars/pelt shape. Dunno your intentions, so it's up to you! Designs are lovely either way

For the follower’s white lions?
"everything the internet touches... It's our to edit" "but what about that dark place?" "that's copyright law and common sense, you shall never go there"
