Quite possibly the worst edit I’ve ever seen. They took a Kion head, and badly traced the rest of his body.
Well this was a disappointment. And also why I take new artists with a grain of salt till I can see they don’t trace like this.
I thought I recognized Vitani here. This deviant has been on deviantART for 1 week and their gallery is already littered with traced images from others’ fan art. Original Vitani belongs to @kourukon
I was a little suspicious about this gift art for Takura and after doing an overlay it’s almost a match for match trace.
It’s one thing to draw something for a friend dears, but don’t just plagiarize someone else’s artwork(Even if it is fair use), or edit it beyond recognition and then expect to get asspats for it.
Had someone done this for me of one of my OCs I’d have told them outright to try again without tracing. I’m not going to be some popular twat that don’t care about encouraging originality with their art and lets them deface my or others artwork and pass it off as original the giftart donut steel. That’s not for me. I’d rather encourage and empower artists for trying their hardest. Feeling proud of your accomplishment at this current time gives one motivation to work harder at it. If more artists did this instead of looking the other cheek when someone recolors a traced base and gives it to them as an offering or recolors or edits their own artwork for said offering we’d be in a happier world.
All I did was tell A-RUKU that I like her work but lately it seems she’s frankentracing and that she has the talent to not rely on it. At least eyes is kind enough to admit where she’s wrong instead of hiding behind a bawwlock.
I did an overlay with their latest upload here and while it was an indirect match, bits did match as if it was a frankentrace.

And traced. P sure that’s somebody’s fan art. And it’s hard looking up these things for Scar on Google anymore.
This was the response I got from the dude who traced @kourukon’s picture and then reuploaded it. Like, what?? What I said wasn’t a compliment by any means, and my response to that definitely puts that across. :? Like, really dude, really? (username and avatar blocked out for obvious reasons)
Also, now they are watching me, great. I wouldn’t be surprised if they trace my art.
He at least looks original, and to be fair this is what deviantART sees in tracing potential. Can I interest you in SilverBreeze on Animation Source who does quite good frankentraces but also learned how to draw on her own and does produce her own original artwork on the side?
