I would like to take a moment of your time, if you collect Lion King merchandising from sellers online, to talk about not getting scammed.
There have been people who do scam others by taking photos from other various TLK collections posted online and claim it is their items in order to gain a quick buck. Now I know this is common on eBay, however on deviantART lately, people have been posting professionally scanned images found on Google claiming it’s their property and that they’re trying to sell it.
What you can do to avoid getting scammed on deviantART:
- Check to make sure it’s not a reposted image. You can do that by right clicking the image, copy the image address, take the url over to Google, and search by image. If it comes up as multiple sources that are the same resolution. Avoid the drama by backing off, and reporting the reposted image silently.
- Make sure that their image is a legit photograph. If they can prove to you that it is indeed theirs, it can’t hurt to ask them to send another photo to you privately through note. If they happily oblige and send you an updated photo of their item, go ahead and make the deal.
- If the dealer is selling merchandising from someone else’s TLK collection on deviantART, quietly notify the owners of the situation so that they can handle it via note. deviantART staff don’t allow 3rd party reporting unless it’s of screenshots.
- If the dealer behaves like a 6 year old when confronted about details, it’s best to back off. Chances are they’re most likely newbs to deviantART and don’t know how to behave to people due to having lived under a rock most of their life. Or, they feel they’re cornered and start to fight back. It’s best to just back off this funbus.
If you follow these simple guidelines, you will not be scammed on deviantART.
