I was just shown this. Yeah. YCHs made out of traced screenshots or fanart is an absolute HELL to the NO. And to make matters even worse, they traced/heavily copied on paper. Further making other Traditional artists look bad.

So look up the lady guard series on Instagram. It’s a complete shit show. The owners of another series were trying to help them better themselves and own up to their faults. But the guy making it just keeps tracing fan art and show art and saying it’s his. he keeps denying it. There’s also leaked stuff from his server saying “do what this series is doing!! Watch them closely and copy them.” They also abuse their animators. They expect them to complete 20 minutes of animation within 6 days. Also, another artist made them gift art and they commissioned one of their artists to heavily REFERENCE the gift art to the point where even the LOGO is the exact same. It’s fucking sad, I was apart of a 4 hour call in trying to get him to own up to it. But no, he keeps going..

My dudes, when making a YCH, don’t steal from other artists. This includes big companies. You will find yourself in a legal situation if you steal from other artists and make a profit off their work. Just don’t ever do this.
Okay, but he clearly traced either by taping a piece of paper up to his monitor, or printing out the screenshot and then tracing it up against a window. There are no eraser marks or construction lines seen. It’s… too neatly drawn. And the rest of his gallery is also traced and being passed off as originul the fanart donut steel.
Again, this bullshit trend needs to stop.

This bullshit needs to be shut down. It’s becoming an uncomfortable trend in the fandom. I pin the blame squarely on bases.
So, the account that stole my art, has also recolored art apparently. This was originally drawn by IceWing09 on Instagram and is being used as their avatar. The account username is Santti.bentcast.
If you have a facebook account, do us the favor and report for copyright infringement since Facebook allows second party reporting for those who don’t have accounts with them.
The whole point of redrawing screenshots is to draw them at your skill level to see how well you’ve come along. Not blatantly trace it.

I miss the bygone days of the mid 2000s where everyone praised original style in this fandom. That was the golden age.
But now, now this fandom has an addiction and that is called tracing.
Tracing has spiked in popularity over the last five years accompanied by the battle cry of “But my reputation!”
The root of the problem is hard to precisely pinpoint. I’d dare say it started with traced bases. But it starts with people blindly praising tracing. Even obvious tracing. It doesn’t help that the tracer lies that they drew it.
This post is not aimed at nobody in particular since 95% of this fandom is guilty of tracing for asspats and validation.
It’s true that tracing can be a good tool to teach. It builds up muscle memory and teaches you how things are drawn. And that’s how tracing should be used. Keep it to yourself and use your original works for validation and sharing your ideas.
But again. Too many people in this fandom are lying about being original with their works, either tracing off the film or other artist’s content and then passing off screenshots as their reference source. And that’s ignorance and theft. You’re also deceiving people that you can draw when, you’re really just putting up smoke and mirrors.
It wouldn’t be so bad if you just admit you traced your source, I do when I do them either for fun or to de-stress. But lying about it loses my interest and trust in you.
It’s always a laugh riot when they come at me and boldly proclaim “IDGAF!” and then proceed to act like a baby about it and bawwlock me.
I mean, this kid(and I use the term loosely, he’s behaving much like one) recolored lots of fanart, then proceeded to drag my main sona into his vore stories as revenge vore. He seems to be disillusioned that by recoloring our art or using our characters ‘in his stories’ will get us lots of traffic when he’s a nobody.
