I like that people are now trying to come up with their own meerkat design instead of basing it off of Timon. That’s a step in the right direction.
A fan design of Mheetu that I like.
A lot of the time Mheetu is pictured as a Sarafina clone when it comes to colors or a softer peach than his sister Nala. Mheetu, being a deleted character, has so much controversy over his design. There is a Scar with two added scars going around claiming to be the official Mheetu but I don’t buy it since it’s a fan character. Then there’s the unnamed cub with the supposed Sarafina mother in the end of the comic Simba And The Snake that’s had even more controversy. Then a third who’s appeared in a “The Lion King Fun and Learn Series” of magazines that looks almost identical to Nala except a shade darker and with a black nose and no whiskers. This deleted lion cub has so much controversy over his deleted and rarely seen concept art that there are fights over him on TLKwikis across the net.
The way I see this character, is as a template for imagination and story telling. I like to see what fans come up with for this character’s designs. I don’t seek it out like a troll and bitch and complain about what it’s not. It’s called fan art for a reason, you have a multitude of tools at your disposal to picture the character how you want. The only difference is how you approach other fans with your design. Embrace creativeness
