have you all read this? i vaguely remember reading about this a while ago on some tlk website, it’s a pretty cool concept that would’ve made for a radically different movie. the tone would be all over the place. i think they’d try to force some fatherly bonding between simba and scar and it would mess up his relationship with mufasa so much.
also i’m wondering how the hell simba didn’t realise scar was trying to kill him? maybe he did subconsciously and he’d have flashbacks throughout the movie relating to this underlying trauma that would eventually come to a point at some point during the latter half. i’m thinking they would’ve played it as scar picking him up by the scruff, but with the intentions of breaking his neck, so maybe simba never noticed. thank god they didn’t do this btw because it would’ve given the scar sympathisers waaaay too much content to use in their dumbass theories
on a sidenote i’m quite surprised that the signature edition is getting a shit ton of bonus features?? these are extended interviews from the footage we saw in the diamond edition’s behind the scenes documentary. i loved that documentary so i’m excited to see more stuff from it. this rarely happens with most releases these days. i’m tempted to buy it even though i already have 2 copies of the movie lmao

This is very interesting. I’ve been seeing some fan art depicting this lately and thought it was a new fanfiction idea. And tbh it’s circulated the fandom before. But this is a pleasant surprise to learn this. I wonder if this idea came before or after the idea to use Mheetu to lure Simba into the gorge. Probably after.
