Fuck yea terrible Lion King fandom

Found this on Pinterest today that’s likely poorly edited by some child. I lol’d.

Oi vey, lots of art theft on this one here. It’s all too easy to see as well, though there are a few artists I don’t recognize. :L

Oh God they even stole from the fandom’s beloved Simbamarasa who passed away from difficulties after recovering from pneumonia. I warned them the fandom might turn into a linch mob if they kept this up. This is actually the first time I’ve seen anyone steal from her.

Surprise surprise, LisaNiper/SarfiTheOutlander has been recoloring our fan arts without our knowledge or permission what so ever.

Do people not understand that words evolve definition over time? Today’s internet Culture has adopted and evolved art theft to define the taking of one’s creation without permission. Is it that hard to chew and swallow?

They’re even copying off original fan content.

Ya know this recent drama with a user tracing other people’s art and characters? I’m pretty sure I found another one in that user’s gallery. On the top overlaid on this is the tracer’s picture (with the username covered up), and on the bottom is the...

I hear they even asked Eyes to reference their works but went ahead and did it anyways after Eyes said not to.

So, according to this logic, something that is a direct copy is fan art, but original fan content is recoloring. I about bust my gut laughing at this logic LOL

I dunno about you guys but the definitions of words change over time. Art theft at one point did mean the act of physical theft. But in todays society, the act of stealing art is to take art work that doesn’t belong to you and claim as yours. Piracy is a whole other term. Now selling stolen art for a profit, that would fall under piracy and is done a lot on Amazon, eBay and even Hot Topic. Not to mention hundreds of over seas second parties steal fan art and make them into blankets, towels, stickers, etc and sell them for a profit to unsuspecting people. That’s considered piracy. But to repost one’s art or edit it with intent to claim as your own property and with no permission required is theft. Even if you put credit in at the last minuet, you still took without permission before hand with intent to use. You wouldn’t call stealing your neighbor’s property, piracy? Would you?

*Snorting laugh* Precious angels? Kids who take shit that don’t belong to them then wonder why they’re getting asked to take it down when they pitch a temper tantrum over it? PFFFFHAHAHAHA
