It grinds me when people age their TLK OCs as their own age. I am pretty sure a sixteen year old lion would be pretty ancient looking. Same with a hyena. I could see it more with an Elephant, since African Elephants live long lives in the wild.
AnonymousYou shouldn’t let it bother you. We only ever hear them being called cub or young adult. I don’t think the fandom knows well enough to look into how to age their OC according to nature.

About drawing hyenas, I would say a key thing is to forget dogs. Keep their muzzles somewhat wide and square, triangular noses, big round belly (that's actually their digestive system, not fat), not perfectly pointy ears and rather small eyes (big eyes may make them look like Chihuahuas). Also tlk hyenas have 3 toes and very few spots. Hope this helps somehow!

AnonymousSounds like fun. I think we should flood the TLK fandom with non lion species anyways. With The Lion Guard it gives us ample ideas. They’ve already done some very adorable non lion species characters.
Do you have any advice on drawing hyenas in the TLK/TLG style? Every time I try they come off looking more like weird chihuahuas than hyenas.
AnonymousHmm can’t say that I do. Except to look up some concept art and character model sheets. It’s sometimes fun to look at how the professional sketches them to get the idea of how to draw them.
