Fuck yea terrible Lion King fandom
To the death note fan, I feel the same way! I wouldn't had a problem with the change up had they kept to the original story, and not drastically change the characters personalities. Light turned into a sadistic killer on his own. He was never a bullied person...he was smart and thought he was better than everyone else lol. I hate what they did to Miss. Ryuk was like the only character they got right. Good thing I'm a Ryuk fan lol

I should watch Death Note. Been meaning too. Ryuk is an interesting looking character and I’ve only ever seen clips of him.

As a Death Note fan (anime and manga, not the movie), I was okay with the change in cast but the method, execution and story-telling was spitting in the face of the fans. Essentially it just took a base of Light, L, Ryuk and Misa then recolored them all to become edgy just like every bad base user since the dawn of coloring books. Boom, laid some interconnection down with how TLK fandom feels about bases with how it connects to DN's Netflix movie. Peace ~ Death Note Anon Loves Apples

This is why I don’t watch anime turned live action films. Disney at least knows how to do it right. But other companies. Eh…

I think with the Death Note thing people are pissed because no asian stars when the manga is set in japan (i think) people are just pissed with stuff like that. Mangas/Anime becoming movies with anyone other than asians in the starring roles. Sure the actors may still be great but people get stuck on the 'why did you americanize this?'

That might also be apart of the problem.

Which version of catwoman? Cause there's the Eartha Kitt, the Tim Burton one, and then Halle Berry.
Anonymous

I think they’re talking about Halle Berry.

I heard with the Death Note Netflix movie they turned L black and completely changed his personality. Apparently people liked the pale white looking L over black L. Mainly because the character was changed so much. But like you, if the character is still likeable then I don't care if it's whitewashed of turned into a POC. For example Catwoman has two versions. The original white character, and the black character. I prefer the black version tbh. She was bad ass!

I also prefer the second version of Catwoman. I too liked her for same reasons.

A question about the whole white washing people seem to have issues with. How do you feel when it's say, a white character turned black or Asian just because "muh diversity" for me I hate it because it often ruins characters we love. For example Flash Thompson. I loved him as this big white jock bully. But then in Spider-Man homecoming, he was turned into a smart ass nerd. Like.. no! I loved Flash as the idiotic jock we love to hate XD

A change of pace can be good. Especially if it’s experimental. I personally don’t care one way or the other if the person is turned into a PoC that wasn’t originally in literary form. What I care about is the likability of that character. If it flops in the character development department I’m gonna hate it for lack of creativity and development, not because of their heritage.

Ah yes the cultural appropriation nonsense. I honestly cannot stand that kind of policing. Like be glad people are interested in other cultures and not being completely xenophobic! I myself adore the Japanese culture, and language and would love to live in Japan for a year or two. These days if I spoke Japanese, SJWs would probably claim I'm being racist because I'm a white American XD lmao these people make me laugh

Oh yes, because learning another language we admire and wanna learn more about is totes cultural appropriation!

Other anon sounds very paranoid. If someone wants to draw alternate versions of their sona, let them. Isn't hurting anyone. If you guys want this drama to end, LET IT END. Stop assuming "Oh (Takura/Thrasher) did this??? It MUST be to use it against (Takura/Thrasher) somehow!". I thought this was a banned topic anyways?

I only answered that ask because they asked a question about alternate versions. I ignored the Trasher comments. And have been deleting said drama bait asks this morning. Again, I’m only answering this ask to answer your last question there.

Ngl, I do have multiple versions of my characters. I like to explore alternate universes, though not all are posted publicly. I also like to see them as the opposite gender from time to time XD

I’ve been contemplating drawing a gender bent Kash myself. Gender bending is fun to do.

Speaking of bootleg OCs, Trasher seems to be making like thousands of different versions of her fursona. Me thinks it's a way of her making all these designs so if Takura by coincidence makes anything similar, Trasher would have an excuse to call her a theif. Seriously how many of you have so many different versions of one character? Who does this?

Answering the second part here. Me? I have two versions of Kash. One that isn’t TLK universe, named Rasha for a project I scrapped after I came up with a more solid project. And the TLK universe named Kash. I don’t think anyone needs a bajillion-million different alternates of their design. That’s time-consuming and fanning drama flames.
