people don’t talk enough about the trauma callouts can cause and the fact people can and will use them maliciously to destroy the social life and often livelihood of people they just don’t like (often out of bigotry too!) since that would require applying critical thinking to what you read and understanding that you can’t just go “oh shit this person is being called out they must be Bad”
if you’ve been maliciously called out i love you. if you have trauma from being called out i love you
Asshole just doesn’t quit. I find it ironic that he uses that particular Kiara screenshot for his PFP. He still thinks he’s being singled out by TC, when that isn’t the case. He never asked TC to translate it into a voice-over comic, and he ignored us when we warned him about Vatre demanding a role on the “project.”

Telling people (especially young people or minors) that shipping wholesome fake characters together only will prevent them from being abused, and insisting that they can tell who is a safe person based on something as inconsequential as fictional ships is dangerous
It’s like telling people to avoid people with “obvious” villain traits: What they read, listen to and dress like. In the past those were punks, metalheads, D&D players & Queer people who “Give in to sin”
Not those Safe Christian church-goers who are Auto-Good because of the Bible
Antis sound like they tell people/minors “Now you stay away from people who look scary and weird alright? But if you see a nice smiling person who has candy and puppies you go right along with them because candy and puppies are the markers of a Safe Adult”

It’s such an empty, superficial system that doesn’t do anything to actually help anyone in the real world.
Key part here: Real World.
Many abusers are so successful because they hold traditionally “safe,” “respectable” positions to those around them!
Many times positions in which people tell others to blindly follow them in (i.e. Abuse in the church, abusive coaches, etc.). Which also drives people to not believe victims because “my word they never gave any indication of being anything but Moral & Good”
For the love of anything, push for teaching people red flags that actually apply to real life, and help people who are in the middle of abuse, and who are many times also being actively manipulated. Even the most vigilant people can be victims of abuse. It’s not Black & White
Just saying “Avoid obvious people who look like/do/read/watch/wear these things” can still open a person up to abuse from people in their circles who simply just change their outward appearances and behavior to blend in with the “Moral Good Crowd”
And it encourages climates of “Don’t question this uncomfortable situation, it’s okay because they’re a Good Person.”
Or it perpetuates victim-blaming with the idea that anything bad that happened to the victim was deserved because they’re a “sinner” who MUST have deserved it
And this last bit is way too common in anti-ship discourse; people telling a person they deserved their abuse or should have DIED?! because they “write & ship gross things!”
They’re telling REAL human beings they deserved the harm that befell them & are BAD victims for ships!
People who wake up intending to take advantage of people every day aren’t going to be dissuaded by Wholesome Media & Ships. They’ll harm people regardless. Treating what people like in fiction as a foolproof test is horribly naive at best and extremely destructive at worst
All it does is tell people to go by surface alone: “Go by what you can outwardly see to determine this person’s morality and safety level”
Even more absurd when we’re all going by online profiles alone & can’t even see them in person. It’s not hard for people to hide shit online.
(Note: I don’t think all adults who are antis are predators. Many are probably overzealous and act in ways they think is in their best interest, even if it leads to serious situations)
Yep, originally Zira was named Bianca, she was Kovu’s aunt, not mother (dead already), and she had the hyenas as her allies and army. Here’s Bianca’s model sheet. And I like this design much more than Zira’s final design. Bianca’s design fits to TLK universe, but still is pretty unique.
While Zira’s final design is a pure disaster (the same thing I can say about her cubs’ design). Just female version of Scar. Or as if she was Scar’s either sister or daughter. Absolutely bland and mediocre.
This is indeed a very cool find, but, uh, doesn’t Bianca just sound like a female Scar? An evil aunt, an army of hyenas to do their bidding. Sounds exactly like Scar to me. His poses were even recycled for “Bianca’s” model sheets here. IDK I prefer the finalized version of Zira more. Even if her origin is lacking, she’s more well-rounded than gender-bending the villain. But hey, they had to start somewhere! Plus, this gives us more ideas for fandom content 😁
This is sad. Are people really so very afraid of what it is to be human, to imagine, to experience complicated longing. It is different than acting on it, that is the whole point, to recognize all that goes into being human and to be at times messed up, to understand what internal forces are at work, and to then choose to act in a way that reflectes your actual values. Psychoanalysis talks about “the return of the repressed” - if you are always afraid of yourself and repressing so much, you will be even more likely to act out in some way at some point.
I have no double that this era of purity culture has had a hand in recent bouts of anti intellectualism. So many people will only interact with something that they can fully align their morality with, ignoring the fact that fiction imparts lessons onto is that can affect or change our own understanding of morals.
Facsim doesn’t want to test your morals, it wants to tell you what your morals are and stick to them.
You cannot tell an anti-war story without depicting war, you cannot tell a story about equality without first depicting inequality. But now that people aren’t interacting with moral challenging media they cannot tell the difference between a story deconstructing a social problem vs a story promoting a social problem. Which leads to people becoming susceptible to propaganda.
Of course there are stories that depict gratuitous, uncritical, unhealthy themes, but you will not know that unless you read it. One of my least favourite books of all time due to its racism and misogyny is also one of my favourite books to deconstruct and analyze, I could go for hours about how so many of the harmful themes go over people’s heads under the guise of ‘pro mental health’, but I would not have be able to have that conversation unless I had read the book.
Stay safe out there, guys! Be sure and ask for either half upfront or all upfront on your commissions and adoptables. I know it’s hard to want to hold something for someone out of nicety, but your art is your livelihood, your earnings, don’t let people take advantage of you, and don’t be afraid to put your foot down on choosey beggars.
